Peter Erickson
Staff Scientist
Peter is a Staff Scientist in the Climate and Energy program at SEI’s Seattle office. His primary focus is analysis of climate change policy. Current or recent projects include a study on the economics and future supply of greenhouse gas offsets under U.S. climate legislation; a deep GHG reduction scenario for the EU-27, the development of a consumption-based greenhouse gas inventory methodology for U.S. states; an investigation of greenhouse gas benchmarking as a means to drive emissions reduction in heavy industry, and an ongoing study on mechanisms and potentials for GHG abatement in major developing countries. Peter joined SEI in 2008 after 8 years consulting on environmental issues for cities and states throughout the country, including the states of Washington, Oregon, and California and cities of Seattle, Chicago, and Los Angeles. Peter also developed a leading business carbon footprint calculator for the Seattle Climate Partnership.
Peter received a B.A. from Carleton College in 1998, with a major in geology and extensive studies in mathematics.
