Sivan Kartha, Ph.D.

Senior Scientist

Sivan's research focuses on policy analysis relating to climate change, assessments of renewable energy technologies, and sustainable development strategies. As Coordinator of the Stockholm Environment Institute's Climate Program, his climate change research includes technical and methodological aspects of international agreements, as well as questions regarding equitable sharing of responsibility for addressing the climate challenge. He has also been involved in capacity building activities in countries in Asia, Latin America, and Asia. Further research focuses on the environmental and socioeconomic impacts of biomass energy technologies and supply in developing countries. His work has been supported by international organizations, governments agencies, and environmental non-governmental organizations. Sivan received his Ph.D. in Theoretical Physics from Cornell University in 1993.
